Behavioral Imaging
Behavioral Imaging is an expression for the application of brain SPECT imaging in those taking part in psychological and psychiatric evaluations and therapy. Pioneering work in the derivation of Brain SPECT evaluation of the cortical and sub-cortical systems that affect human behavior and thought is becoming more widely recognized each day. The scan itself is not a diagnosis of any one psychiatric or behavioral medical condition. Rather it is an evaluative tool to enable clinical recognition of the balance or imbalance of regional brain function.
The effects and effectiveness of physician and self-prescribed medications and of recreational drugs will be much more apparent with Brain SPECT imaging, thus providing greater insight and hopefully better decision making, about how each of us plays a more direct role in our own mental and emotional health and well-being. Although Dr. Uszler is neither a psychiatrist nor psychologist, he has recently included this type of analysis of brain SPECT studies in conjunction with referring psychiatrists and psychologists.
